A pair of fine quality French art deco amboyna burl and Macassar veneer bedside cabinets.
The top of the cabinets has been ebonised and each cabinet is fitted with two small drawers with original glass pulls.

Underneath and to the side of the drawer are opened bookshelves which are decorated  with Macassar veneer.
The cabinets are supported on very stylish concave base. They are not signed but the quality of cabinet work and the use of Amboyna and Macassar veneers indicate they could be attributed to the French designer E.J. Ruhlmann.

These cabinets would have originally been part of a very expensive bedroom suite.
Amboyna is one of the rarest timbers in the world, originating in Southeast Asia from the Narra and Padua trees. It was first used for the dashboards in Rolls Royce cars.
