French Oak Refectory Table

A magnificent early 20th century three plank solid oak refectory table, supported by 4  French oak A frame legs each joined by a stretcher base.

The stretchers are joined together by a twisted wrought iron support bar.

The stretcher supports are held in place by wooden pegs and the tabletop is also locked in place with wooden pegs.

the base of the table is Arts and Crafts style.

The Arts and Crafts movement originated in Britian during the late 19th century and was characterized by a style of decoration reminiscent of medieval times.

Condition, the tabletop and base have been lightly cut back and waxed, allowing the original lovely golden oak colour and patena to come through.

3 of the pegs holding the top to the base have been replaced.
