19th century Napoleon the 3rd. ormolu mantel clock, a cherub writing scrpit and sitting on an simulated ormolu cloud decorates the top of the clock case.

Surrounding the clock dial are very finely cast and gilded flowers and each side has scrolled columns with flowers set on the base.

The clock movement is singed Raingo Fre[res, Started by Zacharie Joseph Raingo in 1823 and then continued on throught out the 19th century by his 4 sons.

King George the IV purchased one of their Planetary pendulum clocks which is currently on display in Windsor Castle.

In the mid10th century the firm specialised in Empire style clocks and became know for their fine quality gilding which is very evandent with this clock.

Empress Eugenie , the wife of Napoleon the 3rd purchased many clocks from the firm, many of which are on display in the Musee du Louvre in Paris.

The gilding is in total original condition and is of the highest quality.
